UB Funkey Rastro Costume

Here are some pictures of a Rastro costume sent in by Judi C. of Indiana. Her 6 year old son, Aaron C., is a fan of UB Funkeys and really wanted to go as Rastro for Halloween. His mother was up for the challenge even though she's not a seamstress, but she's made his costumes for him in past years.

If you're curious about how Judi made this, as I was, here is what she wrote: "I don't know how many hours I put into it, but the head did take the longest. It was paper mache using a punching ball as the base. I used a pattern for a super-hero costume for the body, just altering it a bit for the belt, arms/hands, and the feet. I probably would have used a pair of sweats as the base but couldn't find the darker gray. It probably would've saved some time."

Aaron has already told his mom he wants to go as Nectar next year, so I wish her good luck on that! ;)
We'll look forward to seeing more pictures next year!

Master Lox Costume

Here are some awesome pictures sent in by Jennifer L. of Troup Texas. Her 7 year old son, Alex L., was Master Lox for Halloween.

His dad put in about 20 hours making the mask. They used football pads for the large shoulders and different black capes they had from previous halloweens, other than that he was dressed in a black jogging suit.

That was a great costume, Alex!

If you all want to see another Master Lox costume, you can visit Frogboy's blog where he posted a picture of his brother's costume from a previous year's Halloween.

Please check back in the next day or two because I will be posting pictures of a Rastro Halloween costume.

Funkey Fever Clearance Sale

Tristan F. sent me an email about Funkey Fever closing. I didn't know that! That's sad news. They are closing on December 30, 2009 and are having a clearance sale on their UB Funkey merchandise.
Here's the message posted by Tamara, the owner:

Due to loss of interest from children and collectors, we are closing our website for good. I'm sorry to those of you who still show interest and help support our site but we cannot afford to continue. We will officially close December 30, 2009 and we will be selling all products cheap!! everything left will be on ebay after that date. I'm very sorry!

Goodbye and I will miss you all!

What's up with Zhu Zhu Pets?

I just read an article that these little pet hamsters called Zhu Zhu Pets are flying off the shelves of Walmart and ToysRUs, they are hard to find, and that people are buying them for higher prices off of Amazon.com and eBay. Sound familiar? It reminds me of UB Funkeys after every new release!

Just saw on eBay, I think it's worse than UB Funkeys because there are pages & pages posted every day! Walmart supposedly sells these things at $8 and they are selling on eBay for around $26 and up. But eBay is so flooded with, I wonder how soon it will stabilize and the winning bids will be only .99 cents.

These are cute little critters and Liam does want a pet! :)

Happy Funkey Halloween!

Happy Halloween! What's everyone going as tonight? I wonder if anyone has ever attempted to make a UB Funkey costume? If so, I'd love to see pictures.

Can you see Ptep in this picture?

Ub Funkey Game Creator - Ace & Mulch

These 2 UB Funkeys are Liam's favorites now. He has a renewed interest in playing UB Funkeys because he's having a blast creating games, and also playing the games that others have created. We finally found Ace & Mulch at a KMart a couple of months ago.

Ace & Mulch are different from the other Funkeys in a couple of ways. They don't have a game that is already created, but instead you create the games! They are also different in the way that they each have a detachable piece which make them toys to play with as well.

These are some of the games that Liam enjoyed playing:

I'd like to introduce Alec at ufunknews.blogspot.com

It was a couple months ago when I stumbled upon a blog called UFunk News after I saw it come across my google alerts and checked it out. I was very impressed with Alec and his writing and I was surprised that he didn't have any followers! So I signed up as a follower and then I wanted to share his blog on here. It took me a while to finally write something and I'm happy to see he's picked up some followers since then. If you have a minute to check it out, I think you'll like it as well and also want to follow!

FunkeyFever.com is back up & running

Some of you may have noticed that the FunkeyFever.com web site was down for a couple months. There was a very unfortunate incident of a hacker bringing down their site & stealing from them. But the guy was caught and charged for the crime and now FunkeyFever.com is back up. The site is secure and they are ready for their visitors to return. So please show Tamara your support and stop by, maybe send an email of encouragement to her. She's been through a lot, so your support will keep her going on her hard work over there.

Funkey Fever has the Paradox Green Funkeys in stock, as well as the earlier series of Funkeys for those of you trying to complete your collection. Here's the link to their buying page: http://funkeyfever.com/retail.html

Wendy's kids meal UB Funkey Bobblehead

I believe this will be our limit on Wendy's kids meals, this is our second one and we got the bobblehead.

Here's a picture of the bobblehead with Nectar & Maul to give you an idea of the size in comparison to a real ("Playable") U.B. Funkey.

An interesting comment came through this morning on a previous post. Someone in Missouri didn't have luck getting a UB Funkey toy because they got there soon after they were gone. The Wendy's was selling more kids meals than usual because of the UB Funkey toys in them! I don't know who left the comment, but thanks! I am surprised because I didn't realize there was that much interest in UB Funkeys, but I sure am glad to hear they are popular.
